Eyelid aesthesis ( blepharoplasty) is an aesthetic surgery procedure applied to the eyelids. In this attempt, excess skin and excess fat tissue is removed or shaped.

Operation Method

Generally, the looseness in the muscles and connective tissue of the eyelids is removed and the wrinkled skin is removed by loosening with excessive amount of sagging fat tissue. Along with these, additional interventions can be made for surrounding structures. Depending on the surrounding structures, not only the eyelids themselves, but also the patient appropriate interventions are possible to remove the low and old appearance of the eyebrows or to correct the cheek tissue. 


Blepharoplasty surgery can be performed under local or general anesthesia in 1-3 hours. During the operation, the patient does not feel pain or pain. Tension may be felt in the eyelid after the surgery, and it is normal that the upper or lower eyelid cannot be closed completely for a while due to swelling, and eye protection treatments and massage application recommended by your doctor may be required. The patient can be discharged on the same day.


Care should be taken not to rub the eyes for 24 hours after the operation. The dressings that do not cover the eyes after the operation are removed by the plastic surgeon 4-5 days later. Stitches are removed 7 days after surgery. After the stitches are removed, the swelling and bruising around the eyelid will gradually disappear and you will start to look and feel better. You can read and watch television after 2-3 days. You can usually return to your daily life within a week.


  • In the first 2 days, one should refrain from engaging in any strenuous actions.
  • After the operation 4-5. bathing is possible in a day.
  • 5. The vehicle can be used from day one.
  • Make-up should not be worn for at least 1 week.
  • Sunglasses should be used to protect from direct sunlight.
  • If the person uses contact lenses, he / she can start using lenses again after the rashes in the eye disappear.
